R+Co Class with Howard McLaren at Fish!

Our team was thrilled to welcome Howard McLaren to Fish Hair Salon for a special in-salon education on August 18, 2025. Howard shared his expertise in razor cutting techniques with our team, an area he’s revolutionized. He demonstrated his unique perspective on working with the way hair moves, sits and folds during the hair cutting process. Our lovely model Hope received a very stylish and modern look from Howard! He showcased how important a product can change the look of your hair by layering products that give very contrasting finishes on top of one another for a completely different look. The ability to completely change the look ended up showing off the power of versatility in a haircut.

Howard plays a special role in the history at Fish Hair Salon. When we opened in 1998, Howard McLaren was the head of education and creative director of Bumble and Bumble.   After 25 years with the company Howard left and eventually co-founded the R+Co collective under Luxury Brand Partners, alongside iconic stylists Garren and Thom Priano. We were super lucky to first meet Howard at Fish back in 2014 when we first partnered with R+Co and we were very excited to welcome him again in 2025.

Howard’s recent visit was inspiring, pushing our stylists to think creatively and refine their craft. The Fish Hair Salon team is committed to education and constantly evolving and growing with hair industry trends. A number of stylists will be taking part in another R+Co class in Burnaby on November 3^rd to continue the momentum. We’re excited to bring this knowledge back to our clients—helping your hair look modern and uniquely you.
